PPG Industries dedicated its 100% oxygen-fuel glass melting furnace in Fresno, California making it the first flat glass manufacturing plant on the West Coast to use oxy-fuel firing. To keep the plant open, PPG had to switch to use oxy-fuel firing to meet air pollution limits set by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District in roles in 1998.
