THE Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange remained stable compared with the performance of other stock markets in the region, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Shafie Mohd Salleh said.

He said the Composite Index only dropped by 4.12 per cent, others like the Nasdaq dropped by 8.22 per cent, Hang Seng (11.58 per cent), Dow Jones (11.78 per cent) and United Kingdom (18.92 per cent).

Earlier, when replying to a question from Robert Lau (BN-Sibu), Shafie said Malaysia's share market was stable compared with the performance of the regional markets such as in Thailand, Indonesia, Korea and Japan.
