The Conservative Party pledged this week to scrap unnecessary regulations on the advertising industry if it regains power at the next general election.
Peter Ainsworth, the shadow culture secretary, told a fringe meeting, hosted by the Advertising Association, at the Tories' Bournemouth conference that the party was "on the side" of the ad industry because of its crucial role in the communications revolution.
He hinted that the Tories would opt for a lighter touch regulatory regime than the present system.
