MUMBAI, Aug. 25. IT has never been so good for shipping lines in recent times. After languishing in shallow waters for over two decades, shipping lines are heading towards the high seas on full steam.

Charter rates in all segments, particularly for tankers, have increased sharply.

Analysts expect shipping lines to end the year with strong bottomlines on the back of the prolonged buoyancy in the freight rates.

"The fundamentals driving the market do not appear to be changing, immediately," said Mr. K.M. Sheth of Great Eastern Shipping Company.

The gain of individual companies will depend on their tonnage mix.
