LookSmart, the San Francisco-based directory service that serves eight of the top 15 web portals, has made its first acquisition as a public company, buying Culver City's Zeal.com for $20 million in stock. Zeal technology allows its members, called "zealots," to submit and publish descriptions of web sites.
