NEW DELHI, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- India may import 120-130 million tonnes of crude oil and petroleum products per year by 2006-07 following stagnant crude oil production and increasing demand in the country, according to India's Planning Commission.

India imported 75.86 million tonnes of crude and petroleum products during 1999-2000 out of which 57.94 million tonnes were crude, while the rest were petroleum products.

India is likely to import 80 million tonnes of crude and petroleum products during the financial year 2000-2001. Of this, about 95 percent would be crude, while the remaining five percent would be petroleum products, the agency quoted sources as …
