Calcutta, Sept. 28: Mrs Sonia Gandhi today accused the NDA government of playing politics with the West Bengal floods and said it was unlikely that the Centre would declare the situation a "national disaster".

"I'm afraid the government is playing politics," she said after a two-hour aerial survey of the state's flood-affected districts. The AICC president said she found the flood situation in West Bengal "grim".

Mrs Gandhi cited the example of last year's supercyclone, when she said the NDA government had not responded "in the fashion of a responsible government" towards Orissa.
