BHUBANESWAR , Sept. 27. - The Italian government and Rome University are ready to to help preserve the Sun Temple at Konark.
The Italian archaeologist, Professor Croci, will visit the temple in January 2001 to prepare a feasibility report.
Italian ambassador Mr Benedetto Amari told reporters here today that Prof Croci had taken the initiative. Through the embassy, he contacted Archeological Survey, which was open to the idea, Mr Amari said.
Italy will bear the expenses for the feasibility report, he said. Details of what needs to be done and the money to be invested for restoration and preservation work would be discussed later.
