* GROWTH: School's new president has many goals for the university

Six months into her tenure as president of the University of South Florida, Judy Genshaft is expanding her scope from running its main and satellite campuses to connecting more closely with the Tampa Bay area business community.

From connecting college professors with fledgling business owners to turning a new spotlight toward culture and the arts, Genshaft is aiming to make USF a more integral and visible part of the Tampa Bay area.

"We're, here to meet the needs of the region and of the state, and as we grow it enables the region to grow," Genshaft said in a recent interview with The Business Journal. "Businesses want to come into an area that has a university for work force …
