Metrobank holds talks with ANZ, Japan bank.

Listed heavyweight Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) is in talks with Australia's fourth-largest bank, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. (ANZ), for a strategic partnership.

BusinessWorld sources said a Japanese bank, which they did not identify, is also interested in the industry giant.

Metrobank officials earlier indicated chairman George S. K. Ty is open to selling 20% of his total stake to a foreign partner which could provide cutting-edge technology as well as a wider array of products and services.
