While the Kawasaki derby between Verdy and Frontale fizzled out into a dreary 0-0 draw at Todoroki Stadium on Wednesday night, the goals flowed in the other three J.League Nabisco Cup quarterfinal, first legs.

Notably at Kusanagi Athletic Stadium in Shizuoka Prefecture, where Shimizu S-Pulse scored four times at home but still lost by two as Nagoya Grampus Eight rattled in six in a 10-goal cup cracker.

Elsewhere, Kashima Antlers won "away" 2-1 against the Yokohama F Marinos at Yamagata, and Kyoto Purple Sanga held Jubilo 1-1 at Iwata Stadium.

The second legs will be played next Wednesday.
