Govt raises supportprice for Kharif crop.

NEW DELHI, Aug. 29. - The Centre today hiked the minimum support price (MSP) for Kharif agricultural produce including foodgrain, grams and oilseeds by up to Rs 110 per quintal.

MSP for paddy common variety has been raised to Rs 540 from Rs 520 per quintal and that for paddy, Grade A to Rs 445 from Rs 415, the Union Agriculture Minister, Mr Nitish Kumar, told reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

The MSP for niger seeds saw the biggest increase, from Rs 915 per quintal to Rs 1,025. The prices for arhar, moong and urad have bee raised from Rs 1,105 to Rs 1,200 per quintal. The MSPs were in keeping with the recommendations of …
