DALLAS, TEXAS -- Tuesday Morning's search for a new chief continues following the death of ceo Jerry Smith, under whose leadership the upscale closeout retailer completed two public offerings and grew sales at a compound annual growth rate of 17.1% during the six years he served as president.

The company expects to name a successor in the near future, and in the interim, cfo Mark Jarvis is serving as acting president and Benjamin Chereskin, a Tuesday Morning director and managing director of Madison Dearborn Partners, has been appointed chairman.
