The degree to which nutritional needs are met has significant effects on the elderly resident's health and well-being. Inadequate nutrition often is a major con tributing factor to the problems experienced by residents, including physiological, functional, and behavioral problems. Improving nutrition is an important strategy for correcting, reducing, and preventing many problems, and for enhancing and maintaining the highest possible level of physical and mental health.
