Social commentators these days are fond of describing the Internet as a new frontier, constantly changing and ever in flux. Some of them have been paid big bucks in recent years by universities, corporations and think tanks to issue thick reports on how the lawless, formless entity needs in some way to be tamed.

All of that has lead me to ask number of questions, most significantly "How do I apply to be a 'social commentator' ?"

But whoever, these people are, they do have a point. The Old West was a lot like the Internet -- just with less pornography. There is an obvious and direct link between the Wild Wild West and the World Wide Web.
