Bill to confer city status on Shah Alam approved.

THE Shah Alam City Council Enactment 2000 was passed yesterday enabling Shah Alam to be conferred city status from Oct 10.

The enactment was tabled by Selangor Housing and Local Government and Squatters Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Ahmad Dahlan and seconded by State Executive Councillor Lum Weng Keong.

In tabling the enactment, Mohd Mokhtar said the well-planned district was declared the capital town of Selangor on Dec 7, 1978 to officially replace Kuala Lumpur.
