Reaping the whirlwind. That is what came to mind on hearing over the German cable station on Tuesday afternoon about the bomb explosion in Jakarta that seriously wounded Philippine Ambassador Leonides Caday and damaged the Philippine Embassy. Violence begets violence.

It obviously is related to what is happening in Mindanao - although it doesn't look like the MILF themselves are the terrorists. They have denied responsibility, but more to the point, both police and army intelligence apparently showed no suspicious activity of that nature. It is more plausible that Muslim extremists in Indonesia have decided to use this method to show their sympathy with the MILF cause.

The implications are terrifying - Muslim extremists all over the world, picking up on the Indonesia incident, may well …
