While Jack Nicklaus' troubled Golden Bear Golf (OTC BB: JACK) putts its way through a pending bankruptcy and reorganization, the legendary pro has proven he can still create a top-quality golf course.
Designed by Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead, the Mayacoo Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, which ranked 10th on The Business Journal's 1999 list of toughest private golf courses, garnered a 145 "slope" rating this year, boosting it to second place behind top-ranked Old Marsh Golf Club of Palm Beach Gardens, which repeated as the No.1 course.
