Two housing projects, one for University at Buffalo students and the other for senior citizens, received a boost from the Amherst Industrial Development Agency.

At its June 16 meeting, the Amherst IDA unanimously approved an $8.15 million inducement package for developer William Zacher that will help him build an 80-unit assisted living center on South Union Road.

The Zacher project, called the "Dorchester," will be marketed to senior citizens seeking long-term residential care. It will be staffed on a 24-hour basis by nurses.

The Dorchester will be built on a vacant parcel just outside the Village of Williamsville's borders. The land currently …
