Ford financial man to stem Mazda currency difficulties.(Brief Article)

Japan Mazda Motor has appointed a new financial officer. Following the resignation of former Ford Motor Company executive Gary Hexter, another Ford manager, Robert Shanks, has been drafted in. Shanks will take up the new role towards the end of the summer.

"Mr Shanks will be responding to changes in the global automotive market as well as ensuring against the effects of currency fluctuations" a Mazda spokeswoman said.

The new appointment comes as further evidence that Ford Motor Company wishes to increase the presence of its management team within Mazda. Since 1996 Ford has owned one third of Mazda, an agreement that gave it a controlling stake in …
