UK The Government-funded Energy Saving Trust is allocating more money to its Powershift scheme aimed at encouraging greater use of alternative vehicle fuels, namely natural gas (NG), liquefied petroleum gas, electricity and fuel cells.
In a departure for the trust, grants of up to 100,000 [pounds sterling] per site will be made available to support the building of NG refuelling stations. The trust points out that although NG is abundant and widely available direct from pipelines in the UK, the uptake of vehicles is being inhibited by the limited availability of refuelling facilities.
