Symyx Technologies, Inc. (3100 Central Expy., Santa Clara, CA 95051; Tel: 408/764-2000, Fax: 408/748-0175) said it will collaborate with the Institut fuer Microtechnik Mainz GmbH (IMM, Mainz, Germany) to develop microfluidic and MEMS to expand and enhance Symyx' platforms for the rapid discovery of new materials. The objective of this collaboration is to create microreactors on chips, enabling Symyx scientists to evaluate hundreds of catalysts simultaneously under conditions representative of conventional commercial processes. This ability will supplement Symyx' existing high-speed discovery platforms to further enhance and speed catalyst discovery and process optimization. The collaboration is exclusive for the two-year term of the agreement.
"This collaboration unifies the efforts of an international leader in micromachining with our proprietary technologies, to advance our use of microreactors and MEMS in high-speed materials discovery," says Steven D. Goldby, Symyx chairman and CEO.
"Microreaction technology will change the world of chemistry. The collaboration between Symyx and IMM in the field of combinatorial material science is at the ...
