The Philippines must convince the Taiwanese government to go back to a previous interim agreement before it considers initiating another round of talks on a new air services agreement, a Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) official said.
CAB member and Department of Foreign Affairs assistant secretary Franklin M. Ebdalin told BusinessWorld that going back to the January interim agreement remains to be the best course for the immediate resumption of the Manila-Taipei direct flights.
Renegotiations or amendments to the existing agreement will still be considered after the resumption of direct and regular flights between the two countries, he said.
