15 Cong MLAs defy party whip.

CALCUTTA, June 26. - Fifteen Congress MLAs defied a party whip today and abstained from voting for a Congress-sponsored motion against the government's "failure" to tackle clashes between CPI-M and Trinamul workers.

The motion was defeated lost with 85 votes against and 47 for it.

Twenty members abstained from voting, including three from the Trinamul Congress and one each from the BJP and the Suci.

The Congress Legislature Party chief whip, Mr Abdul Mannan, said party MLAs who defied the whip would be disqualified.
