Silk production severely affected in state.

CALCUTTA, June 25. - The high mortality rate of silk worms is seriously affecting the production of quality silk in the state. To cope with the problem, the government has formed the Provincial Race Authorisation Committee, which will act as a co-ordination body between the State Sericulture Authority and the Central Sericulture Research and Training Institute in Murshidabad. The committee will primarily help in developing new types of silk worms for farmers in Murshidabad, Malda and Nadia and other parts of the state.
