NEC software translates Web sites into Japanese.

NEC Corp. has developed computer software that automatically translates the contents of Web sites written in nine foreign languages, including English, Chinese and German, into Japanese, The Yomiuri Shimbun learned Tuesday.

The firm will start providing the service from late July through Internet service providers. Internet users will be able to look at Web sites in Japanese translation by connecting to ISPs that have this software, company sources said.

As the popularity of the Internet continues to increase in Japan, the number of Internet users who access foreign Web sites has also grown. Those accessing these foreign-language Web sites often face …
