India: Tata Tea PAT declines marginally to Rs 125 cr.

MUMBAI, June 16: TATA Tea Ltd has ended 1999-2000 fiscal with a 3 per cent decline in its profit after tax at Rs. 124.57 crores as compared to Rs. 128.76 crores in the previous year.

The company's performance has been impacted on account of a severe drought in the northern tea-growing regions and sluggish prices in the South.

However, Tata Tea's other income rose to Rs. 48.06 crores (Rs. 16.48 crores). This includes profit on sale of ACC shares which fetched the company Rs. 12.5 crores. The company also received higher dividend from its subsidiary, Bambino Investments.

Income from operations for the year was at Rs. 922.12 crores (Rs. 884.71 crores). …
