MOSCOW Russian president Vladimir Putin has ascended into heaven -- at least, that's the version that makers of territory's satirical puppet program "Kukli" are putting out.
The disappearance of the Putin puppet from the popular program on main commercial channel NTV was the result of direct pressure from the Kremlin, says NTV DG Yevgeny Kiselyev.
Closing his own news round-up, which ran directly before "Kukli's" weekly primetime airing, Kiselyev stated May 28 that the withdrawal of the presidential puppet from the program was one of the conditions presented to the channel for ensuring its "more peaceful survival."
