Framework plan for electronic governance approved.

The National Information Technology Council (NITC), the highest policy-making and advisory body of the Philippines for information technology issues, finally approved yesterday the adoption of the Government Information System Plan which will serve as the country's road map in moving toward electronic governance.

In an interview after the council's special meeting on GISP at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) head office, Science and Technology Secretary Filemon A. Uriarte, Jr., who is also NITC chairman, said the GISP will be the "official framework plan" that will guide government agencies in implementing their information and communications …
