BSF thwarts Bangla anti-erosion work.

MALDA, June 10. - BSF objections have made the irrigation division of the Bangladesh government stop its anti-erosion work along the bank of the Mahananda river at Munsiganj in the Chapai Nababganj district of that country. The BSF had warned earlier this week that if work was not stopped immediately, its jawans would resort to firing.

According to BSF officials, the warning came in the wake of repeated requests to the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) to ensure that anti-erosion work in an area adjacent to border pillar no. 201/23 R close to the Ashrafpur border out-post of the BSF on the Indian side …
