Kent Noard was named partner at Sterling Wood Financial LLC. Noard is a past chairman of the Silicon Valley Society of the ICFP. Sterling Wood provides financial consulting, asset management and counseling services from offices in San Francisco, San Mateo and San Jose.

Marketing agency Middleberg and Associates named Lisa Rhorer Schmidt director of online marketing in its San Francisco office. Schmidt was previously senior Internet business management Oracle Corp.

Online a San Francisco provider of e-commerce sales and marketing applications, announced the appointment of Kirk Cruikshank to their board of directors. Cruikshank was formerly executive vice president of strategic development for Ariba Inc. His previous experience also includes a stint as CEO at Trading Dynamics. He also worked as senior vice president of marketing for Arbor Software.

The Horn Group, a San Francisco national high-technology public relations firm, named Scott Wilson to the position of director of investor relations. Wilson was previously director of investor relations for LookSmart, and vice president and director of Edelman Public Relations. He has also held positions with Wells Fargo & Co. and Montgomery Securities.
