The House Judiciary Committee unanimously approved legislation that would make it easier for owners of trademarks to take legal action againstm "cybersquatters" who steal their names for web sites.

There currently is no law against people registering Internet domains with names that are identified with someone else. Some cybersquatters register a name in hopes of selling it for a big profit to the company whose trademark they appropriated; others pick a popular name to get accidental traffic they wouldn't otherwise get.

Some companies have sued these cybersquatters under existing trademark …
