R.Y. Narayanan COIMBATORE, April 24 FEASIBILITY studies for establishing three fishing harbours in Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu are on to meet the pressing needs of the fishermen in the region who have been forced to anchor their mechanised fishing vessels off the coast.
The Government has also cleared a proposal to build a bridge close to Nagapattinam harbour in place of an old bridge to provide easy access to the fish marketing centres. Mr. Shivdas Meena, District Collector, Nagapattinam, said a consultant had been entrusted with the task of conducting a feasibility study for establishing fishing harbours in Poompuhar, Nagapattinam and Pazhayar.
