When pact ends, firm won't have county hospital in its Medicaid HMO network
Total Health Care Plan Inc., reeling from deepening losses and declining membership, will be dealt another blow April 30 when Children's Hospital of Columbus pulls out of the insurer's Medicaid HMO network.
When Children's Hospital departs, the health maintenance organization for low-income members will be left with no hospital contracts in Franklin County.
Administrators said Children's Hospital is pulling out because of unpaid claims and concerns over the company's financial performance.
"We are not getting paid on a timely basis" said Tim Robinson, chief financial officer for Children's Hospital. "And we are concerned about getting payment."
Robinson would not release details about Total's payment standing with the hospital.
Executives at Total Health Care were unavailable for comment.
