Deciding between the old and new when buying.(Brief Article)

Years ago a friend of mine bought one of those "fixer-uppers" in a fashionable part of town popular with young professionals who wanted to live in the city. It was his first home, and he was very proud. Shortly after closing, a Realtor friend visited from out of town. "So, what do you think?" he eagerly asked. After a thoughtful moment she replied, "Do you know how to paint?" "Sure," he told her, picturing sunny weekends working with his wife. "Good, paint a for-sale sign and get rid of it as fast as you can."

Fortunately for my friend, it was the mid-70s, and home values were soaring. He satisfied his urge to remodel and made out fine.
