For decades, NRDC has been fighting timber interests to protect Alaska's Tongass National Forest, home to the country's last vast stretches of untouched ancient rainforest. Back in 1996, NRDC and our partners won a major victory when we convinced the Clinton administration to close out Louisiana Pacific Corporation's fifty-year contract to log huge portions of the Tongass.
