New York is the first state to receive NWF SmartWood certification for environmentally sound management of all of its multiple-use public forest lands-more than 700,000 acres that are managed for timber, wildlife, water quality and recreation.
The certification verifies that the forests are administered for long- term ecological, social and economic health.
