Areas in marine park to be opened for angling.

KUALA KEDAH, Sun. - Designated areas along the fringe of the Pulau Payar Marine Park will soon be opened to anglers, Deputy Agriculture Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shariff Omar said today.

The fishing spots will be near Pulau Segantang, one of four islands that make up the park.

Those fishing in the designated areas will only be allowed to use a single line and hook.

Shariff said the decision had been made based on appeals from fishermen who have long been requesting that the park itself be opened for recreational fishing.

Shariff, however, did not specify the size and exact location of these areas, saying only that a circular on the decision …
