City sees growth in total personal income.

San Antonio residents as a whole are earning more money.

Among the top metropolitan areas in the nation, San Antonio ranked 341h in total personal income, according to a June report released by American City Business Journals Inc., the San Antonio Business Journal's parent company.

The ACBJ research is based on the most recent data available from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, which tracks income levels across the country.

The 89-city study focuses on metros which had TPI numbers of more than $10 billion. The report also includes 39 metros which are ACBJ markets and is centered on four factors: TPI, change in TPI between 1995-1997, per-capita income and change in per-capita income between 1995-1997.

New York City ranked No. 1 in the personal income study, with a TPI of $688.27 billion. Dayton, Ohio, finished last with a TPI of …
