Genie hires CHM to stimulate registration.

Genie Internet, BT Cellnet's internet arm, has brought in Clarke Hooper Momentum to develop a programme of direct marketing and sales promotion support.

Genie has briefed the agency, which is a sister to BT's ad agency, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, to develop a customer base. It will use direct mail and promotions to stimulate registration for its services.

Genie was launched in 1997 and was the first service in the world to send information from the internet to a mobile phone.

It became the UK's first commercial WAP service this January and has 500,000 customers.
