ANSYS, Inc. (Southpointe, 275 Technology Dr., Canonsburg, PA 15317; Tel: 724/746-3304, Fax: 724/514-9494), in cooperation with EUROPRACTICE, announced a special initiative to encourage the use of engineering simulation technology in the development of MEMS throughout Europe. As part of this initiative, EUROPRACTICE Software Support Service, managed by Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), will offer ANSYS Multiphysics software for academic and noncommercial R&D use to its members.
EUROPRATICE is a noncommercial, integrated circuit and MEMS consortium with 250 academic and research laboratory members. Its Software Support Service is aimed at stimulating a wider exploitation of state-of-the-art microelectronic technologies in research and development, and to facilitate its deployment to the business community. The ultimate goal of EUROPRACTICE is to enhance European industrial competitiveness in the global marketplace.
ANSYS/Multiphysics is a full-featured, general purpose, finite, element-based analysis simulation tool. In addition to best-of-class single physics functionality, the software can combine two or more interrelated physical phenomena in a common environment to accurately predict real-world behavior. ANSYS/Multiphysics 5.6, the latest release, has enhanced capabilities in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), electrostatic, electromagnetic, circuit simulation, and MEMS applications.
