Last December, I received an invitation from Van's Aircraft company rep Ken Scott to visit during a whirlwind winter tour of kit aircraft companies in the Northwest. I obliged and made a Saturday trip to North Plains, Oregon, where I found Scott with a key to the company factory/hangar in hand. It was obvious at the end of our walk around the facility--where parts for six mostly aluminum kit airplanes are stamped, sheared, bent, welded, punched, drilled, stored and shipped--that the place was running at capacity. It was no surprise to find that a move was impending.
