2000 Trike and 'Chute Directory.

Trikes have been around for a long time, but their popularity has increased rapidly in recent years. They are easy to trnsport and store, relatively inexpensive and give the pilot a personal experience of free flight. No pilot's license is required for ultralight models, and flight restrictions essentially require good judgement and staying clear of controlled airspace.

Many of the 37 trikes listed here are from overseas where trikes flying is popular primarily because of its fuel efficiency. Where applicable, U.S. distributors are listed. In the United States, trikes are classified as ultralights if under 254 pounds of Experimental if over that weight. Two-place designs are legal in the U.S. for instruction.

Powered Parachutes

Powered parachutes and paragliding represent more new ways to enjoy flying. They're similar to trikes but with a controllable parachute canopy rather than a flexible wing. With the recent development of dependable, lightweight engines and protected propellers, the powered parachute has gained popularity. Our 'chute directory begins on page 49.
