$70 million expansion of convention center could attract more industries

DOWNTOWN FORT WORTH -- In March, old seats, lighting fixtures and other salvageable items from the Fort Worth Convention Center's theater will be removed to prepare for the theater's demolition and the convention center's expansion.

The $70 million expansion is expected to change the type of conventions drawn to the center -- from predominately regional social meetings to state and national professional meetings, said Segi Desta, vice president and chief operating officer of the Fort Worth Convention & Visitors Bureau.
