SARAWAK and Perak are paying the price for not having academies as they have been left out of the Nike Under-14 Cup which starts on Monday at the Police Depot ground in Kuala Lumpur.

The reason cited by the FA of Malaysia yesterday for the exclusion of the two States was the Asia Pacific championship is in June while the National Under-15 tournament is only in November.

But the bottom line was the inability of the States to get their academies going.

Their exclusion, and the decision to only allow States with academies to compete in next week's tournament, means only 12 teams will see action in the five-day championship. The final will be played …
