DVD database available on disc from Widescreen.(Brief Article)
Widescreen Review magazine will release the first edition of The Ultimate Widescreen DVD Movie Guide in April. An interactive database on disc, the Guide will feature reviews of more than 1,500 movies as well as movie trailers that come complete with 5.1 digital sound.
The reviews, drawn from an online database the magazine launched in July, include information about movies on DVD, including, where appropriate, everything from pricing to credits and aspect ratios to audio-bit rates. They even include narrative summaries. Titles can be searched using 130 categories, such as by title or studio.
The Guide is on a hybrid DVD-Video/DVD-ROM disc, and it includes a link to the online database, which consumers can access for titles that were added after the disc was released. The disc also contains links to movie buying and rental e-commerce sites.
