Time marches on. It is March already! This means yet another quarter of dramas will be finishing and yet another fortnight of specials are on tap. Then it is time for the onset of the new TV year in April.
This week Televiews devotes a whole column to a preview of coming attractions. The networks already are announcing their new spring dramas, and it looks like the motto this April is "go with proven winners."
The Fuji TV network's 1998 hit Shomuni, a tale of office ladies with attitude, will be back again starting April 12 at 9 p.m.
From April 9, Katsunori Takahashi will also be back in Part 2 of the popular Salaryman Kintaro series on TBS, finally allowing him to escape his current captivity with Norika Fujiwara in that tortuous triangular love story in the TBS, Friday 10 p.m. slot. Kintaro provides a much better venue for his talents.
Salaryman Kintaro will run in the TBS Sunday, 9 p.m. golden slot currently inhabited by Beautiful Life, which is proving to be a mammoth record breaker. It has managed the unheard of feat of recording ratings of more than 30 percent for six straight weeks. …
