Whole-Cell Analysis System.(Brief Article)
Aclara BioSciences (1288 Pear Ave., Mountain View, CA 04043; Tel: 650/210-1200; Website: aclara.com), experienced in microfluidics and microfabrication, has established an alliance with Cellomics (635 William Pitt Way, Pittsburgh, PA; Tel: 412/826-3600; Website: cellomics.com) to manufacture and market a whole- cell analysis system known as CellChip. Cellomics is experienced in cell and molecular biology, fluorescence-based reagents, optical detection, informatics, and cell pattering.
The CellChip system enables a large number of parallel live-cell assays for a broad range of applications, including the discovery of new drugs and stratification of patients for effective therapies and basic bioscience. It will consist of a closed cassette containing uniquely patterned arrays of animal or plant cells on the Cellomics CellChip plate, with direct microfluidic addressing of cell domains by Aclara's microfluidic LabCard.
