Alliance Targets Optical Networking.(Brief Article)

Nanovation Technologies Inc. (Miami, FL) an innovator in optical semiconductors, systems, and components, announced an alliance with Cronos Integrated Microsystems Inc., a leader in MEMS component design and fabrication. Through this alliance, Nanovation will expand its product offering to provide optical interconnection products that integrate MEMS technology into a new, dense, integrated optical product line for high-speed optical networking applications.

Under an intellectual property agreement, Nanovation and Cronos are working together to develop a family of products that combine the advantages of MEMS with Nanovation's patented microcavity and photonic waveguide technologies. The result will be the most comprehensive optical networking capabilities ever made possible.

Nanovation designs and develops optical semiconductors that enable telecommunications equipment manufacturers and data networking equipment suppliers to cost-effectively offer high speed integrated optical solutions. Nanovation has incorporated its microcavity technology to design photonic switches and multiplexers that optically switch high wavelength density traffic. This patented technology integrates multiple planar (flat) optical switches, each on the order of ten to a few hundred microns.
