Firm seeks building with its imprint on it

State and city officials are fighting to keep RTKL Associates Inc., Baltimore's largest architectural firm, from leaving downtown, but the task might be harder than expected.

That's because RTKL (www.rtkl.com), which has outgrown its headquarters in the Alex. Brown Building, wants to relocate to a building it has designed when its lease runs out in 2002, RTKL chairman Harold L. Adams told the Business Journal earlier this week.

The search for such a facility may be a daunting one. Currently, no RTKL-designed buildings within the city limits have enough room, Adams said.
